RIVER RIDGE RESIDENCE
This project is situated at the edge of a ridge that overlooks the Tennessee Creek wetlands and the Rio Grande railroad. The residence perches above the valley, taking in the views of the surrounding peaks including Mount Elbert and Mount Massive to the southeast. The project shares its long southern face with the sun for passive heating due to the extreme cold climate at 10,500 feet altitude. The process initially focused on designing within set parameters of modular pre-fab construction with the concept based around "pods" that interconnect via glass corridors. The upper level bedroom suites float above the main structure while cantilevering toward the trees and mountain views.
