QUARRY LAKES RESIDENCE

As the name suggests, the site is on what was previously a working quarry that has since been reclaimed into a series of artificial lakes, wetlands, and meadows. A transparent bar facing the southern lake contains living and resting spaces. The main spaces look upon the incredible views of the mountains while aligning with the natural edge of the topography. Solid masses such as the garage, mudroom, and bathrooms shift on either side to create an internal courtyard that offers a transition space between the residence and the natural site. The courtyard allows connection to the history of the site and furthers the dialogue between the site and the home.
