HILL STATION
The Hill Station sits atop the crest of an east west running foothill. While the site ridge is easily accessed by vehicle, the 10-acre property only has a narrow 300’ long build-able area averaging 30’ wide. The project is shaped by this site feature and straddles the peninsula tightly as the grade drops off 280’ to the rear of the property. The concept is to touch the ground lightly and float above rocky terrain by using Blue Sky Building Systems light gauge framing technique. This system, originated in California, utilizes a bolted post and beam strategy to achieve moment-frame connections. Implementing this system will minimize excavation and save costs while preserving the natural landscape.
